BE A PROFESSIONAL PLAYER
If you walked by our training field on that sunny afternoon, you would have felt the electric energy in the air. The sun was shining bright, casting long shadows across the lush green grass, and our players were lined up, waiting with bated breath.
Before the players of the month announce, our coaching team shared a message that every parent and player needs to focus on. It’s a message that we live by here at PSA Canada soccer academy,Soccer success isn’t just about what you do when the referee blows the whistle.
Let’s dive into what made this month’s announcement so special, what our coaches mean by the “20/80 Rule,” and celebrate our latest superstar!
During the presentation, our coach stood on the field with tablet in hand, speaking directly to our young athletes. She laid out a simple breakdown of how players earn the coveted Player of the Month title.
And she dropped a stat that surprised a few players: Earning this award is 20% about what you do on the field, and 80% about what you do off the field.

Yes, soccer skills matter. We want to see players working hard on their touch, passing, and dribbling. But even on the field, attitude is key. The coaches highlighted two simple things that show a player is ready to learn:
A true student-athlete excels in both areas. Our coaches emphasized that players must:
If a player is struggling in school or showing disrespect in the classroom, they cannot be Player of the Month. Academic discipline translates directly to tactical discipline on the pitch.
How you treat your family is the truest reflection of your character. The coaches made it clear: respect your family members and actively help them at home. Being a good helper and showing gratitude at home is a massive part of a player’s character assessment.
Here is where many players missed out on points this month. Our coaches pointed out that managing screen time is one of the most critical off-field habits.
Too much time on phones, tablets, or video games affects a player’s sleep, attention span, and overall energy levels. We challenged our players to manage their screen time, keep their promises, and find a healthy balance between digital entertainment and active, real-world play.

After outlining the values we stand for, it was time for the moment everyone was waiting for.
